Design Standards
Our system is dedicated to providing a secure environment in which the client can brief the Design Team, External Consultants, Contractors, Suppliers and other in-house departments. It was developed specifically as a means of communicating the client's requirements, and not as a bolt-on to a Project Information Exchange system.
All information is comprehensively catalogued by format/brand, location, type, discipline etc. which means that any information can be located quickly and easily. Users can also customise their interface to display the type of information they are interested in, so that a Merchandiser for example doesn't have to wade through masses of Construction details to locate a shelving profile.
The system holds information relating to any aspect of the build and fitout process, and works equally as well with large and small quantities of data. Typically this would include construction details, planning & layout guidelines, operational principles, design and branding guidelines (signage, graphics, finishes etc), equipment & shopfitting specifications, engineering services and, in the Retail sector, merchandising guidelines.
The core Design Standards system provides:
- Secure system logon with different access levels depending on a user's security clearance
- Core "engine" which holds as much or as little information as is required / available
- Customised interface which reflects the clients' corporate identity and content of the system
- Service to initially populate the system and an optional service to subsequently maintain it

- User tracking, so you can see who looked at what, and when
- Full revision control so you can see what your past standards were - and actually browse by a "design freeze" date
- Clear channel for feedback & queries, either directly to the client or managed by ICON
- Effective change control procedure so that all changes are approved by the right people prior to publication
- Fully coordinated content management via sophisticated classification and search tools
- Links to specifications inside CAD blocks allowing you to retrieve the full specification of an item from within a CAD drawing
- Ability to store any type of information, be it textual or graphical, detailed or performance-related
